Summer Programs

The Bison One Card Office supports approved Howard University summer programs by providing temporary identification cards, meal plan access, Bison Bucks, and related campus account services for program participants.

If your department is coordinating a Howard University summer program and requires participant access to campus dining or other Bison One Card services, our team is here to assist.

Services Available for Summer Programs

The Bison One Card Office can support approved summer programs with:

  • Temporary Bison One Cards for non-Howard participants
  • Meal plan enrollment
  • Bison Bucks account setup
  • Laundry access through the Speed Queen mobile app
  • Access to eligible campus dining locations
  • Billing and invoicing support for approved programs

Temporary Bison One Card 

Temporary Bison One Cards are available for participants who are not current Howard University students, faculty, staff, or contractors.

Card Fee: $15 per card

Please note:

  • Replacement fees apply for lost or damaged cards
  • Current Howard University students typically use their existing Howard credentials or virtual ID
  • Physical card issuance for Howard participants may be limited to select program needs

Summer program participants may be enrolled in one of the following meal plan options:

Dining Locations and Hours

Dining operations may vary during the summer due to reduced campus operations and seasonal schedules.

Bison Bucks

Bison Bucks are optional, declining-balance funds that can be added to participant accounts for campus purchases.

Bison Bucks may be used for:

  • Participating dining locations
  • Laundry services via Speed Queen
  • On-campus participating merchants
  • Select off-campus participating merchants

Howard University students may also use Bison Bucks through eligible Grubhub integrations where applicable.

 

Laundry Access

Summer participants and eligible guests may use campus laundry facilities through the Speed Queen mobile app.

Getting started:

  • Download the Speed Queen app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
  • Create an account using a personal or Howard University email address.
  • Enter location code: HOWARD
  • Use Bison Bucks for payment

 

Summer Stay Guests

The Bison One Card Office also supports authorized summer stay guests residing in Howard University affiliated housing.

Summer stay guests who require campus card access may be issued a Temporary Bison One Card.

Card Fee: $15 per card

Please note:

  • Guests should already have housing arrangements confirmed through the appropriate university housing partner
  • Replacement fees apply for lost or damaged cards
  • Laundry access may be enabled through Bison Bucks where applicable

 

Request Process

Support for summer programs and summer stay guests is available only for approved and authorized requests.

Program coordinators should coordinate directly with the Bison One Card Office once institutional approvals are complete.

Detailed onboarding instructions, participant submission requirements, and billing documentation will be shared directly with approved program coordinators.
