About Parking and Transportation

Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) welcomes new and returning faculty, staff, and students to campus for an exciting school year!  For first-time students (freshman, transfers, or graduate students) it is important to familiarize yourselves with the services provided on campus.

PTS is equipped with shuttle buses to transport you to and from your dorms, the Shaw/Howard metro-rail station, and many other locations in and around campus. Please let us know how we can better serve you and we will work to meet your requests.

Our goal is to ensure all patrons receive a fair opportunity to utilize the parking facilities as well as the shuttle services provided on campus. Keep in mind that limited availability means limited parking. If you did not receive parking for this year, you are not alone. There are over 15,000 requirements for approxiamately 3,000 spaces. Remember your other parking options and continue to inquire about parking availability throughout the year.

For updated, real-time parking and shuttle announcements, shuttle schedules, and information regarding the services we offer, see the menu options.

Transportation Demand Management (TDM)

The transportation element of the Howard University Campus Master Plan (HUCMP) identifies potential transportation impacts of the plan and provides recommendations to minimize adverse impacts on the surrounding community. The Transportation Demand Management (TDM) plan provides a detailed assessment of opportunities to mitigate adverse transportation impacts — primarily by enhancing multimodal Central Campus access and mobility for the extended HowardUniversity community.
