Campus Parking

Howard University offers a limited amount of parking on campus for students, faculty/staff, and visitors. The university strongly encourages visitors and employees to consider alternate forms of travel when accessing campus.

Campus Parking Lots

The Office of Parking & Transportation oversees all campus parking lots. Parking on Howard University's campus is by PERMIT ONLY. Vehicles parked without a valid permit are subject to ticketing, towing (at owners expense), and or immobilization.

Visitor Parking 

Visitor parking is available on the Howard Center Lot at a rate of $10/day and $160/month. The entrance to the Howard Center Lot is located on 8th St. NW.

Permit/Parking Registration


Parking Registration will be open April 24 – April 26. All students MUST register for parking during the allotted days. Registration will begin at 2 p.m. each day until all permits are exhausted. Please note: Parking permits will not be available for purchase once fall semester 2017 has begun. 
The registration schedule is as follows:

  • April 24, 2017 - Seniors, Graduates and Third Year Law students (Apply Only)
  • April 25, 2017 - Juniors, Sophomores and Second Year Law Students (Apply Only)
  • April 26, 2017 - Open to all students (Excluding Freshman/Law Students)

Lots available for student parking registration:

  • Banneker North - (In front of East Towers Resident Hall)   
  • Banneker South - (In front of East Towers Resident Hall)                 
  • 9th & V - (Behind 9:30 Club) *Lot is ONLY available from 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday - Sunday
  • East Towers - (Behind East Towers Resident Hall)
  • Howard Center – (Across from Barnes & Noble Bookstore)
  • Drew – (Behind Drew Resident Hall)

Payment Method: 
Permit payments will not be accepted the day of registration. The charge for the permit will be added to the student account July 1, 2017.
Permit distribution location:
Students can pick up their permits from the Blackburn Center during the first week of classes.

Requirements for Pick-up: 

  • Student ID
  • Valid vehicle registration (copies are accepted)

Registration instructions:

Log into

  • Username: Your Student ID number with the @ symbol
  • Password: Your Student ID number with the @ symbol (Default)

*If you have previously set a password for your account use the password you created. Otherwise use the default password. If you do not remember your password or have never registered for parking: Contact the Parking Office at 202-806-2000.
